The DMV has seen a lot of award-winning accomplishment from its regional artists over the past several years (i.e. Goldlink) and continue to stack up more and more mainstream success with up-and-coming artists like Joey Swagga. While already established on the home front, Joey Swagga elevates his profile to the major label prospect with the release of his new EP, creatively-titled, ’89’.
The new 6-track project features all-new music from the DMV-native. Showcasing Joey Swagga’s unique cadence, crafty wordplay, and powerful voice cues. He approaches the mic the experience is all his own poised with an unmatched storytelling ability that yanks you into a song in seconds. Often reminiscent of circa 2005 Young Jeezy, with a dash of the eclectic 2 Chainz.
’89’ features guest appearances from fellow popular DMV recording artists Lambo Anlo, Snsg Pablo, and MMG’s Fat Trel. Critics have already proclaimed Swagga’s new project is believed to be his most promising body of work to-date.
