This is amazing and history has been made! The NBA’s first full-time female assistant coach is Becky Hammon for the San Antonio Spurs!
Becky Hammon sat down with Robin Roberts to discuss the new, exciting opportunity. When Roberts asked Hammon how the locker room scenario would be handled, she laughed saying, “I think it’s kind of silly, actually. … I’ve been coached by men the majority of my career. It has never been an issue. They have never walked in on us. I think it’s a non-issue.”
Hammon holds a very humble and grateful attitude towards her new position in NBA coaching. She mentions how she never set out to make history but that the transition into coaching seems very “natural.”
Congratulations is in order and along with the rest of the world, I’m excited to see what she does with the next chapter of her career!
